The Lesma Handling Group was established in 2002 with the aim of providing passenger handling and airline representation services. It started by serving two flights per day in Girona airport, and new workplaces quickly opened up all over the country.

Since then, Lesma has been consolidating its position, exponentially increasing the volume of flights and passengers served year after year, to become one of the country’s main players in the industry.

Lesma currently operates in 25 Spanish airports. It offers full handling services in the airports of Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga, Alicante, Valencia, Sevilla, Girona, Reus, Valladolid, Santander, Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Murcia, Jerez, Ibiza, Menorca, Almería, Vigo, Tenerife Sur, Tenerife Norte, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura y Gran Canaria

Lesma has always displayed great technical ability and utmost customer orientation. Its flexibility and adaptability make it unique in the industry and allow it to be very competitive and provide services in accordance with each airline’s needs. The effectiveness of these services is reinforced by its internationally renowned commitment to quality and safety in its operations.

This last year, Lesma provided handling services in more than 256.000 operations and served over 48,5 million passengers from the Spanish airports in which it operates.

The LESMA HANDLING GROUP has an effective and efficient Quality Management system based on ISO 9001:2000 aimed at meeting the needs and expectations of its stakeholders (customers, employees, shareholders and society) as well as a commitment to comply with the laws and regulations applicable to its airport transport support activities.

LESMA HANDLING would like to highlight the following important aspects in the approach of its system:

Our organisation regularly sets planned goals in line with this policy to ensure that their achievement facilitates the improvement and evolution of the system.

This quality policy is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that it is consistent with the evolution of our industry. It is published and communicated to all staff, and signed by our management as evidence of our commitment to quality and ongoing improvement.


Environmental management is an ongoing commitment for the LESMA HANDLING GROUP. We have therefore decided to put in place an Environmental Management system based on ISO 14001:2004.

The implementation of a system based on this international standard enables us to prove our commitment to the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business as well as those established by AENA or any others that may have been concluded.

The following aspects of our environmental policy and commitment are particularly worth highlighting:

  • Assuming responsibility for environmental management as a sustainable key factor in our business.
  • Continually improving our environmental performance in the processes developed.
  • Preventing any environmental impact that may be caused by our actions.
  • Properly managing the waste generated.
  • Encouraging participation and awareness in relation to environmental management among all our staff as well as among the personnel performing work on our behalf.

This Policy is a frame of reference for setting environmental goals and objectives that are subject to regular reviews.

The LESMA HANDLING GROUP’s management has signed this Environmental Policy and is committed to making regular adjustments to it and making it known to all staff, both internal and external.


The LESMA HANDLING GROUP is conscious of the importance of the safety of the passengers, staff and airlines that work with us.

We operate in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 2320/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2002 establishing common rules in the field of civil aviation security in accordance with the Spanish National Security Plan.

We have an aviation safety and airport security training programme which aims to train staff to achieve and maintain high levels of efficacy in the prevention of acts of unlawful interference.

Our internal safety and security training programme covers (but is not limited to) the following areas:

  • Aviation safety and airport security awareness.
  • Civil Aviation safety and security goals.
  • National and international regulations.
  • Types of unlawful interference against civil aviation.
  • Safety and security prevention measures.
  • Airport security features.
  • Emergency action plan.

We believe that, in order for this training programme to be effective, it has to be disseminated and applied correctly in the various areas of the Company. Refresher courses must be provided on a regular basis to maintain the knowledge acquired.

The aim is to provide an effective, efficient and safe service. We contribute to airport security and aviation safety by working together with the security forces in order to achieve not only a safe environment but also the peace of mind of passengers, staff and airlines.


Through this policy, the LESMA HANDLING GROUP is committed to fostering health and safety at work in its operations.

The Company has decided to put in place an Occupational Health and Safety Management System based on OHSAS 18001:2007, to provide a tool for continuous improvement and comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

We would like to highlight the following principles:

  • Maintaining and creating a workplace with minimal risks and safe working systems.
  • Training and encouraging staff to acquire safe practices.
  • Identifying the risks and hazards associated with our work and managing them properly.
  • Providing the necessary equipment and materials to perform the work.
  • Continuously improving our management system.

The management of LESMA has set a number of goals for the achievement of this commitment and to aid the progress of the system.

The management’s commitment and subsequent dissemination and promotion of this policy aim to achieve the involvement of all employees in the group.
